Drainless Tummy Tuck

What is a Drainless Tummy Tuck?

A Drainless Tummy Tuck or abdominoplasty uses an advanced suturing technique that is different from the traditional methods. Weight loss and pregnancy paired with the natural effects of aging can leave patients with sagging or uneven abdominal bulges that can make them self-conscious or unhappy with their appearance. During a drainless tummy tuck procedure you will get all of the traditional benefits of having a tummy tuck. You will see tighter abdominal muscles and removed excess skin/body fat, but there is also added benefits as well!

How is a Drainless Tummy Tuck Different than a Traditional Abdominoplasty?

Drains are used to collect fluid from the area during your recovery. This fluid accumulates in the dead space that is created when the flap of skin on the abdomen is tightly draped and sutured back down along the hip line. A drainless tummy tuck uses progressive sutures throughout the deeper tissues in the abdomen to hold the abdominal skin flap in the proper location. It eliminates the dead space and eliminates the need for drains to be placed. The sutures that are placed throughout the deeper muscle wall in your abdomen dissolve over time, so they do not need to be removed.

The procedure is more intensive, and takes longer to perform. With that said, there are a number of benefits that patients see with a drainless tummy tuck!

What are the Benefits of a Drainless Tummy Tuck?

  • No fluid accumulation
  • Less scar development due to less tension of the incision
  • Faster and easier recovery time
  • Lower infection risks with less chance of complications
  • Less pain and discomfort
  • Fluid accumulation is eliminated
  • Better results
